The City of Yonkers Human Rights Office is a municipal government agency created in 1963 by City Council Resolution number 622. The office operates under a memorandum of understanding with the State Division of Human Rights. The primary mission of the agency is to investigate matters of discrimination in the areas of employment, housing, public accommodation, education and credit. Under the enforcement provided by the memorandum of understanding the agency is empowered to investigate and process complaints of unlawful discrimination in the areas of race/color, creed, national origin, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, military status, marital status, familial status, arrest/conviction, and retaliation.

Since its inception in 1963, The City of Yonkers Human Rights Commission has strived to develop and successfully implement innovative human rights strategies that foster mutual respect and understanding among all groups of individuals throughout the community.

Our goal in reaching out to the community is to train and educate the public on the Human Rights Law.

The Office will continue to work closely with the City of Yonkers Community and strive to protect the human rights of all individuals.
