Housing Code Enforcement This division enforces the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code, the Yonkers Housing and Building Maintenance Code and the Multiple Residence Law. It inspects apartment houses and other multiple residences and investigates complaints of insufficient heat or hot water, general housing complaints, and illegal apartments. It conducts certificate of occupancy inspections, temporary residence inspections, and gas and electricity shutoff inspections. It receives referrals from the Westchester County Health Department, the Mayors Help Line and the Yonkers Fire Department. It is responsible for receiving annual boiler inspection reports from multiple residence owners of six (6) or more units.

1. Suggest that all window a/c units be removed.

2. Suggest covering a/c wall units with insulated/thermal a/c covers.

3. Suggest that apartments have thermometers away from windows.
