As set forth in the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law §1640-j, the City of Yonkers is authorized to provide a residential parking system in the Garrett Park area. The program is in effect year round, Mondays through Fridays, from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. and from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Signs have been posted in the area informing the public of the parking restrictions. The area is defined as "bounded within the Garrett Park area of the City of Yonkers which shall mean that area encompassing Palmer Road, from Parkview Avenue to Bronxville Road; Garrett Place; Parkview Avenue from Palmer Road to 103 Parkview Avenue, North of Pondfield Road West; Pondfield Road West from Bronxville Road to the Bronxville Border and Gard Avenue from Pondfield Road West to 19 Gard Avenue, North of Pondfield Road West
Permits will be available for residents of the area only. Pondfield Road West from Bronxville Road to the Bronxville Border, which is a mixed use, residential and commercial area, will be the area available for non-residents to park and will not be posted as part of the residential parking area. §109-129 of the City Code of the City of Yonkers set the parking permit fee at $25.00 for Garrett Park area residents and “the permit fees shall be paid for any calendar year or part thereof…”. Therefore, for any part of the calendar year, the fee is $25.00, no exceptions.
To receive a residential parking permit, residents of the area must submit $25.00 for each permit along with a copy of each vehicle's registration and a completed Request for Garrett Park Area Residential Parking Permit application form. Permits will be issued to Garrett Park area residents depending on the number of vehicles in your household and the number of reserved assigned spaces or off-street spaces available on your property, either in a garage or outside. If your household has 3 vehicles and one assigned or off-street space, then you will be entitled to 2 permits. If you have one vehicle and one assigned space then you are not entitled to any permits.
