Yonkers Fire DepartmentThe safety, security and well-being of all Yonkers residents is Mayor Mike Spano’s top priority. Thanks to the hard work of the City’s emergency services personnel, Yonkers is ranked as one of the safest cities of its size in the country.

Enhancing public safety also includes a focus on quality of life issues. That’s why, working with Police, Fire, Public Works, Parks, Housing and Buildings, and local community organizations, Mayor Spano launched the Neighborhood Protection Partnership to address specific quality of life issues in each neighborhood. The program includes the launch of the Yonkers Police Department’s Mobile Command Center, community clean-up efforts, lighting improvements and other quality of life efforts.

Yonkers’ Green Neighborhoods Initiative, consisting of several programs including Adopt-A-Mile and the Clean Streets program, has enabled residents, businesses and organizations to take pride in Yonkers by helping to keep our city clean and green.

Yonkers will not tolerate littering or illegal dumping in our city. That’s why Mayor Mike Spano established a dumping hotline, 914-377-DUMP (3867), for any resident to report the illegal dumping of garbage in Yonkers.
