The Division is responsible for the management, maintenance and repair of all City vehicles and equipment, especially major repairs to the vehicles and equipment of the Department of Public Works, Police Department and Fire Department. Rebuilding and replacing vehicle components are done as required, as are official vehicle inspections.

In a typical year, vehicle repairs and road services average about 5,000 vehicle repairs, and about 1,200 emergency road services. This Division keeps the Fleet going so the city can provide the best quality of service.

The Division has helped support Mayor Spano's Green Initiatives by adding both hybrid and electric vehicles to our Fleet. It currently has 21 Hybrid/Electric vehicles in service, with more to come! The Department of Public Works has also joined forces with the Yonkers Parking Authority and Office of Sustainability to install over 100 Electric Vehicle recharging stations at various locations throughout the city this year.
