 Yonkers Workforce Investment Board

Workforce planning is a continual process used to align the needs and priorities of New York State’s workforce and economic development objectives. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 (WIOA) requires workforce planning at the State, Regional and Local level to enable partnerships which meet the workforce needs of businesses.

Local plans are developed by Local Workforce Development Boards and are incorporated into their regional plan. Local plans describe specific activities which improve workforce development in local communities.

Labor Market Information for Workforce Planning– Provides information to support Regional and Local Planning, including: business demand occupations (current, short and long term demand); significant industries; priority economic development initiatives; Regional Economic Development Council priorities; and examples of successful sector-based workforce strategies.

The Yonkers Workforce Development Area under the provisions of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Public Law 113-128 of 2014, require that Local Plans be reviewed and updated at the end of the first 2-year period of the 4-year Local plan. The Yonkers Local Plan 2021-2024 is posted as per New York State Department of Labor requirements for public comment period of no more than 30 days starting May 7, 2020.
