Birth Certificates are recorded and filed in the Yonkers City Clerk’s Office for those individuals who are born in the City of Yonkers. Birth records are confidential records under New York State law. Certificates may only be obtained by individuals with proof of identification and proof of relationship or direct and tangible interest. 

NOTE: If your current last name does not match the last name on your birth certificate, then please include/upload one of the following with your request:

  1. Marriage Certificate linking your current last name to your maiden/bachelor's (birth) name
  2. Final judgment of divorce linking your current last name to your maiden/bachelor's (birth) name
  3. Death Certificate linking your current last name to your maiden/bachelor's (birth) name
  4. Certified Court Order showing your legal name change from maiden/bachelor's (birth) name to current name

ONLINE REQUESTS:

For your convenience, you can process online request through VitalChek Network Inc, an independent company that we have partnered with to provide you this service.  An additional fee is charged by VitalChek for using this service. ALL SALES ARE FINAL AND NON-REFUNDABLE.  All customers will receive the certificate requested or a notice that the record was not found. IN-PERSON REQUESTS:

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and must have valid photo identification. Birth certificates can only be obtained by the individuals themselves, or a parent as listed on the Birth Certificate.

The City Clerk’s Office is located in Room 102 at City Hall, 40 South Broadway, Yonkers, New York 10701.  For driving directions, enter 87 Nepperhan Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10701 in your GPS device.  It will take you directly to the municipal parking lot adjacent to City Hall.
