The Yonkers Fire Departments has three Deputy Chiefs. They are responsible for the three Divisions of the Fire Department: Personnel, Fire Prevention and Operations. One Deputy Chief is on call at all times to respond to and take command of multiple alarm fires or major emergencies.
Joseph Citrone
Chief of Personnel
The Chief of Personnel is responsible for personnel and training, in addition to labor and management relations. The Chief is also responsible for planning, development and scheduling.
Chief Citrone was appointed to the Department in January of 1999. As a firefighter he was stationed at Engine 307 until his promotion in 2007. As a Lieutenant he floated through different firehouses until he was assigned to TL-75 housed at Station 12, in 2013. Chief Citrone was then promoted to Captain. After spend two years as the Captain of Manpower, he was again assigned to Station 12 where he became the Captain of TL-75. In 2019 he was promoted to Chief and shortly thereafter became the Deputy of Personnel. Chief Citrone is a certified EMT and is active in fire officer training classes. He holds a Master Degree in Education from Lehman College. The Chief is a lifelong resident of the City of Yonkers and currently resides with his wife Tricia, two children Joseph and Victoria, and chocolate lab Belle.
Chris DeSantis
Chief of Fire Prevention
The Chief of Fire Prevention is responsible for managing the Fire Prevention Division, the Fire Investigation Unit, Fire Safety Education, and Department's Capital Improvement Projects. This includes overseeing the inspection of existing buildings and those under construction or renovation, processing all complaints or inquiries and enforcement of New York State Fire and Building Codes, investigation of the cause and origin of all fires of consequence, and Fire Safety Education programs for the residents of the City.
Chief DeSantis was appointed to the Yonkers Fire Department in 2000. He was assigned to Engine Company 310. He was later detailed to Fire Prevention where his engineering background was vital to growth of the Fire Prevention Division. He was promoted to Lieutenant, Captain, and Chief while detailed to Fire Prevention, where he is now assigned as Deputy Chief.
Raymond Mahoskey
Chief of Operations
The "Chief of Operations" is responsible for the Fire Department’s response to fires, medical emergencies, natural gas leaks, stuck occupied elevators, vehicle accidents, water leaks, Hazardous Materials incidents, Rescue (USAR) incidents, ice and water rescue, and all other Emergency Incidents. The Chief of Operations is also responsible for Fire Department Communications, Fire Apparatus design & readiness, the EMS First Responder Program, and the Special Operations Command.
