Yonkers Police Department Gives First-Time Youth Offenders a Second Chance

Did you know that Yonkers Youth Court was established by the Yonkers Police Department in conjunction with the Mayor’s Office and Yonkers Department of Education as an alternative to the Westchester Family Court system?

First-time youth offenders of misdemeanor crimes may be referred into Yonkers Youth Court, which provides supervision, support, and sentencing alternatives including community service.

Successful completion of this alternative program can result in infractions being removed from the first-time offenders’ records. Beyond that, in partnership with several community organizations, community service may lead to paid employment and spark an interest in fields the youth may not have otherwise been exposed to.

Yonkers Youth Court is available to first time nonviolent offenders under the age of 18. To find out more, contact our Youth Advisor Alison Licht at (914) 803-2479 or alison.licht@ypd.yonkersny.gov. You can also download the Youth Court brochure here.
